There are now two different qualifying routes to access a free government boiler grants. The new route to qualify without being on any benefits is via the Local Authority Flexibility Eligibility (see below for more details). Secondly you can also still qualify if a resident of the home is claiming any type of benefit.

What is the Local Authority Flexibility Scheme?

​

Help is now at hand to help low income households who do not receive any benefits or credits from the government. As part of the LA Flex scheme homeowners can now access government eco grants via a new criteria set out by participating local authorities. These new guidelines are based on:-

 

• If the household has a low income (below 26k - 30k depending on which postcode you live in)

• Current house efficiency and EPC rating.

• Current heating system age.

• If there are any residents vulnerable to the cold due to their age. For example young children or the elderly.

• If there are any residents living in the property who are in ill health and vulnerable to the cold.

 

We have partnered up with Next Energy an award winning ECO installer who are onboard with multiple councils across the north east. If you think any of the above criteria may apply to yourself please enter you contact details at the top of this page and we will arrange for Next Energy to contact you and take you through the relevant local authority criteria for your area. If you meet the criteria Next Energy would arrange for one of their surveyors to conduct a survey on your property and would send your application off to your local authority for processing. If successful Next Energy would carry out all works to your property using your approved government ECO grant.

• Income based job seekers allowance (JSA)

• Income support

• Tax credits (child or working tax credits)

• Disability living allowance (DLA)

• Universal credit

• Personal independence payment (PIP)

• Carer’s allowance

• Attendance allowance

• Any type of armed forces or war pension/benefit

What is available?

Due to the successful completion of ECO2 we are pleased to announce that we have secured a large amount of funding under the new government funded ECO3 scheme which began at the start of this year (2020). This block of ECO funding is estimated to run until 2022, but we would highly recommend that you take advantage of this scheme sooner rather than later as previous government funded schemes have came to an end earlier than expected due to the popularity demand of the funding.

• Gas boiler replacements

• First time central heating (property must not currently have a gas boiler and radiators)

• Under floor insulation

• Loft insulation and loft top ups

• Cavity wall insulation

• Internal wall insulation for solid wall-built properties

• Electric room heater upgrades to electric storage heaters
